3M is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Industrial Business Group located in Oak Hills, CA. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

Safely fabricates, install, maintain, repair, move, replace, modify, troubleshoot, diagnose, adjust, calibrate and perform preventive maintenance on industrial and commercial equipment and devices used in production, laboratory, office and utility areas. Assists in general plant equipment maintenance. This may include training of other maintenance or production personnel and assisting in systems support. The presence of every employee, when scheduled, is required in order to conduct the company’s business efficiently and effectively. A condition of continued employment is that employees will work overtime when requested to do so. Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Troubleshoots, repairs, modifies and adjusts fixed and variable speed mechanical equipment and components, bearings and bushings, gear boxes and transmissions, align motors, splice conveyor belts, pump seals, clutches, brakes and drive components, align coupling, and valves.

  • Troubleshoots, repairs, modifies and adjusts fixed and variable speed mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic power transmission components, reciprocating piston equipment, elements and systems according to layout plans, engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, machine construction prints, blue prints, sketches, equipment manuals and vendor diagrams using both US customary and metric systems of measurement.

  • Troubleshoot/repair electrical equipment, programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), operator interface stations and sensors, wire motors. Repair and replace contactors and relays, motor starters, fuses, circuit breakers or disconnects, transformers, power supplies – AC and DC.

  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks, use proper material joining and cutting process techniques. Fabricate and repair machine parts.

This position will require:

  • Working 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM, Sunday through Thursday)

  • Frequent physical demands, including:

  • lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.

This position may require:

  • Weekend work

  • Working overtime

  • Rotating shifts

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a mechanic in manufacturing in a private, public, government or military environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in manufacturing, preferably in non-woven fibers, web coating or a related industry.

  • Possess a two (2) year technical degree in a manufacturing field.
