The Mill Manager is responsible for overseeing the Mill Production Department of the Lucerne Valley, CA site. He/She establishes and maintains a safe working environment and an atmosphere of continuous improvement. Drives Operational Excellence initiatives; establishes and maintains an environment that utilizes the principles of Lean Manufacturing. Directs operations in a manner that enhances and fosters employee engagement while meeting production and customer needs. Regularly interfaces with Sales and Marketing to ensure customers needs are being met. Must drive working with High Performance Work Systems approach and be extremely proficient at working in a team environment and developing subordinates to operate in a team environment. Works safely and actively promotes the safety culture and philosophy of the company in all work activities.

What You Will Be Doing

-Developing subordinates, directing, training, supervising, scheduling and overall management of the Mill to ensure quality output at minimum cost.

-Coordinates with Quality Assurance to ensure products are produced in accordance with customer specifications, ensures compliance with in- process testing and

sampling and ensures customer satisfaction.

-Designs and engineers capital projects directed toward expansion and improvements in efficiency and cost control.

-Monitors and evaluates existing systems and

processes to make recommendations for efficiency improvements.

-Maintains production rates to best utilize equipment and labor while managing costs to budget.

-Assists in the design of, and generates cost estimates for maintenance, production and portions of all capital projects at the Lucerne facility.

-Directly responsible for maintaining good employee relations in accordance with our philosophies. This includes coordinating and ensuring performance

management and employee development.

-Builds a safety work culture committed to risk reduction, accountability and prevention.

-Acts as resource and champion for department continuous improvement activities (Suggestion Program, 5S, Kaizen, TPM, problem solving, etc.).

-Manages individual employee involvement in continuous improvement activities to ensure equal opportunities are available for all department members to

participate and contribute.

-Helps in the development of SOPs, leads safety audits

-Performs additional duties as assigned.

What You Need for this Position

-Bachelors degree in related technical or business field,

-5+ years of management experience in an industry-related field, experience in diverse functional roles.

-A well-developed business understanding

-Ability to work in an office environment, using office equipment as needed, read, write, listen, speak, and understand English, follow instructions and other

oral/written information

-Regularly conducting work in a controlled office environment, sitting at a desk.

-Frequent exposure to plant areas which include exposure to outside weather conditions as well as loud noise from equipment and dust from production processes.

-Self-directed, take initiative and be persistent when appropriate to accomplish necessary duties and keep busy without prompting.
